Big news overnight - as of 03:30AM, Drew successfully summitted San Luis, then tackled Culebra, and the crew is now transitioning to the Little Bear Group. If your counting along, that's 15 14ers in the bag - whew!
Because of last year's challenges during this leg of the journey, the crew was on pins and needles, but there was no need to worry. After San Luis, Drew was feeling good, smiling and in good spirits despite a one slight wrong turn coming down, and reporting 80 MPH winds and freezing cold.
Here's Drew heading up San Luis - according to the crew, seeing his headlamp in the distance in the middle of the night was the best feeling ever. And for us spectators, it's enough to give you the chills if you think about it.
It helps to ease the anxiety a bit when the views - from the stars to the wildlife - are so spectacular.
During today's transition, the team is hoping for some quality rest and refuel, as we all digest the magnitude of this undertaking, and what Drew has accomplished so far.
We also want to make sure you know we've been sending Drew your comments along the way and he is so very thankful for the tremendous support of his crew and for all your encouragement, prayers and well wishes. The energy boost he gets when he hears your virtual messages along the trail is amazing, so keep 'em coming!
Outstanding!!!!
